Random Number Generator Examples for Common Ranges

Follow practical random integer, unique-number, decimal, signed-range, sorting, copying, and PDF examples with clearly defined settings.

How should you use these Random Number Generator examples?

These examples turn the Random Number Generator inputs into complete scenarios with stated values, calculation steps, and interpreted results. Use them to check how the calculator behaves, compare your own situation with realistic cases, and identify which inputs have the greatest effect before relying on an estimate.

Example 1: Pick One Integer from 1 to 100

Select Whole numbers, enter 1 and 100, and set the quantity to 1. Every integer from 1 through 100 is eligible. The specific output changes because this generator is intentionally not seeded.

Example 2: Select Five Unique Positions

For five different positions in a group of 30, enter 1 to 30, quantity 5, and select Generate unique numbers. The range contains 30 available integers, so five unique results are possible.

Example 3: Generate Decimal Test Values

Select Decimals, enter 0 to 1, quantity 10, and three decimal places. The output contains ten values formatted like 0.123. Rounded duplicates are possible because decimal uniqueness is not enabled.

Example 4: Generate Negative and Positive Values

Enter -50 as the minimum and 50 as the maximum. Whole-number mode can return -50, 0, 50, or any other integer in between. Decimal mode samples the corresponding continuous interval before display rounding.

Example 5: Sort and Copy a Result List

Generate 20 values and choose Smallest first when the final list should be easy to scan. Select Copy results to place one formatted value per line on the clipboard, or Download PDF to preserve the settings and displayed list.

Reproduce a Setup

  1. Open the Random Number Generator.
  2. Select the mode stated in the example.
  3. Enter the minimum, maximum, and quantity.
  4. Choose uniqueness, precision, and sorting when applicable.
  5. Select Generate and verify that every displayed value satisfies the selected settings.
