About Us

What We Build

California Calculator is an independent calculator knowledge project located at Jeffrey Road, Irvine, CA. Visitors can use its public tools without registration, sign-in, software installation, or a paid subscription. The site combines interactive calculators with formulas, step-by-step guides, worked examples, accessible result tables, charts, hosted widgets, and downloadable reports where those features improve understanding.

Practical tools

Finance, salary and tax, health and fitness, mathematics, home improvement, and everyday calculations.

Transparent methods

Inputs, units, assumptions, formulas, limitations, and source dates are explained where they materially affect a result.

How Calculators Are Developed

  1. Define the calculation's purpose, intended user, inputs, units, formula, assumptions, exclusions, and rounding policy.
  2. Use authoritative primary sources for changing tax, legal, health, safety, engineering, or regulated values.
  3. Implement the mathematics in a typed calculation engine separate from the page interface.
  4. Test representative, boundary, invalid, unit-conversion, and reported regression cases.
  5. Align the calculator, Guide, Formula, Examples, PDF, charts, and embed with the same calculation model.
  6. Review accessibility, responsive behavior, metadata, structured data, internal links, security, and performance.

California Calculator, operating the California Calculator website, is the editorial owner and maintainer. A page names a professional or specialist reviewer only when that review actually occurred and can be supported. No professional review is implied by the presence of a calculator or reference.

Federal, State, and Local Scope

A calculator's title, input labels, assumptions, and source notes define its jurisdiction. A U.S. federal calculator does not automatically calculate every state or local rule. State tax, lending, employment, construction, privacy, consumer-protection, and other requirements can differ and can change on different effective dates.

When a calculator models a particular state, it should identify that state and the effective year. When users enter their own state or local rate, the tool applies that value as an assumption rather than claiming to determine the legally correct rate. Review the official agency guidance and consult a qualified professional before using an estimate for a filing, contract, permit, medical decision, or legal deadline.

Accuracy, Limitations, and Corrections

We work to provide reproducible calculations, but results can differ because of rounding, incomplete inputs, timing, source updates, contracts, regional rules, or facts a general-purpose form does not request. Calculator results are educational estimates, not official determinations or professional advice.

To report a possible error, use the Contact Us page and include the calculator address, non-sensitive inputs, the result received, and the result expected.

Privacy, Accessibility, and Advertising

Calculator values are usually processed in the browser. Some tools intentionally place entered state in the page URL so a scenario can be restored or shared; those pages identify this behavior and users should not enter sensitive information. Read the Privacy Policy for details and state-level privacy rights.

The site is designed for keyboard navigation, responsive screens, visible focus, readable contrast, descriptive labels, validation guidance, and textual alternatives to charts. Accessibility feedback is welcome.

The interface includes clearly labeled advertising areas. Google advertising services are the only publisher advertising platform intended for this site. When Google ads are activated, Google may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, limit, secure, personalize where permitted, and measure advertisements. The Privacy Policy explains these practices and available controls.

Open-Source Software and Original Work

The application uses maintained open-source packages for decimal arithmetic, validation, rendering, charts, and report generation under their respective licenses. The project's calculator integration, original source code, page design, branding, and editorial content are maintained by California Calculator through California Calculator. See the Terms of Use for permitted use and widget conditions.
