Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Scope

California Calculator, located at Jeffrey Road, Irvine, CA, owns and operates CaliforniaCalculator.net and the California Calculator service. This policy applies to the website and calculator widgets loaded from our domain. It does not control an unrelated website that embeds a widget, a linked government page, an advertiser, an email provider, or another third party. Their own policies govern their processing.

No Registration or User Accounts

California Calculator does not provide registration, sign-in, memberships, subscriptions, or user profiles. You do not need to provide a name, email address, password, or payment information to use a public calculator. We do not maintain a customer account database. Information sent voluntarily by email is handled as contact information, not as a website account.

Information and How It Is Used

CategoryWhat may be processedPurpose
Calculator valuesNumbers, choices, dates, or text entered into a calculator.Usually processed in your browser to calculate and display a result.
URL stateSome calculators place entered values or settings in the URL so the scenario can be restored or shared.Restore the page state. URLs may enter browser history, server logs, screenshots, bookmarks, messages, and referrer data.
Technical requestsIP address, user agent, requested path, timestamps, response status, referrer, and security or diagnostic events processed by hosting, network, or security providers.Deliver, protect, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve the service.
Contact informationEmail address, message, attachments, and any information you voluntarily send.Respond to support, correction, privacy, legal, accessibility, widget, or business inquiries.
Interaction metadataCalculator identifier, formula version, action type, and optional action category, together with page views, page performance measurements, and JavaScript error reports if analytics monitoring is enabled.Measure feature use, monitor site health, and diagnose problems without intentionally including raw calculator values.
Speed-test trafficTiming requests, generated binary download data, and generated upload payloads.Estimate browser-to-server latency and throughput. Uploaded test bytes are read for size verification and are not calculator content.

Browser Processing, PDFs, and Clipboard

Most calculations are performed locally by application code in your browser. PDF reports are assembled from the values and results visible in the browser and downloaded to the location you choose. Copy buttons write selected results to your device clipboard after you activate them. We do not control files or clipboard content after they are stored or shared on your device.

APIs and External Services

The Currency Converter requests a general exchange-rate table through our server. Open Exchange Rates receives a server request for that table; the browser's entered amount and selected pair are not intentionally sent to that provider by this integration. The Internet Speed Calculator communicates with California Calculator's own ping, download, and upload endpoints.

Source and reference links can take you to external websites. Those sites receive information normally associated with visiting a link and apply their own privacy practices.

Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics

The application does not intentionally store calculator values in a first-party customer database and does not currently set calculator values in localStorage or sessionStorage. Hosting, security, consent, or advertising infrastructure may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, or request identifiers for their documented purposes.

The application provides an event hook that sends non-value interaction metadata, and can send it to an analytics data layer if one is separately installed. The current source does not intentionally place raw calculator inputs into that event.

When site monitoring is enabled, we use PostHog as a service provider to measure how the site is used and to find errors. It receives page views, calculator interaction metadata (calculator, formula version, and action type), page performance measurements, and JavaScript error reports, together with ordinary technical information such as your IP address, browser, device type, and approximate location. Before any page address is sent, the query string and fragment are removed so values placed in a calculator URL are not shared. We do not send calculator inputs or results, do not record sessions or screens, and do not use automatic click or text capture. By default this monitoring does not set cookies or use browser storage. It is not started on embedded calculators shown on other websites, and it is not started when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

Google Advertising

Google advertising services, such as Google AdSense, are the only publisher advertising platform intended for direct integration with California Calculator. Clearly labeled advertising areas may display advertisements supplied by Google. We do not intend to install a separate publisher advertising network.

When Google advertising is active, Google and advertising technology providers used through Google may receive or use information such as your IP address, browser or device information, page address, referrer, ad impressions and interactions, approximate location, and cookies or similar identifiers. Google explains that advertising cookies and similar technologies can be used to serve and render ads, limit repeated ads, detect fraud, personalize ads where allowed and selected, and measure advertising performance.

Google's processing is governed by its own policies. Read How Google uses information for advertising, How Google uses cookies, and the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage Google advertising personalization through My Ad Center and can also control cookies through your browser.

Where required, a consent or privacy-choice message must be shown before or in connection with optional advertising storage or personalized advertising. Google requires publishers serving personalized ads in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland to use a Google-certified consent management platform. State opt-out rights are described below.

We do not intentionally send raw calculator values to Google for advertising, knowingly sell calculator values, or use calculator values to build advertising profiles. Ads may still be contextual or based on information Google processes under its policies and your settings.

Embedded Calculators

A widget embedded on another website is loaded from our domain, so our server and infrastructure may receive the same technical request information described above. The embedding website can separately process its own page data, cookies, referrer information, or interaction data. Review that website's policy as well as this one.

Disclosure, Retention, and Security

Information may be disclosed to infrastructure, hosting, email, security, analytics, or Google advertising providers only as needed for the services they perform; to comply with law or valid legal process; to protect users, the service, or legal rights; or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections. Google may use advertising technology providers within its advertising services as described in Google's notices and the applicable consent interface.

Records are retained only as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, backup, or troubleshooting. Retention can differ by provider and record type. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no browser, transmission, storage system, or third party can be guaranteed completely secure.

U.S. State Privacy Rights

State privacy laws apply only when their coverage tests are met and can contain entity, data, and purpose exemptions. Depending on your state and the circumstances, rights may include confirmation or access, correction, deletion, portability, a list of certain recipients, limiting sensitive-data use, opting out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling, using a recognized universal opt-out signal, appealing a denied request, and freedom from discrimination for exercising a right.

Submitting a Request or Appeal

Email contact@californiacalculator.net with the subject “Privacy request.” Identify your state, the right requested, the email address associated with prior contact, and enough detail to locate the record. Use “Privacy appeal” if asking us to review a prior decision.

We may need to verify identity, residency, or an authorized agent's authority. Do not email identity documents unless we specifically provide a secure method. We will respond as required by applicable law and will explain any legally permitted denial and available appeal or complaint route.

Children's Privacy

The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parents or guardians can contact us about information they believe a child provided. State laws may provide additional protections for minors, including consent or restrictions on targeted advertising and sale.

Changes and Contact

We may revise this policy when the service, vendors, or legal requirements change. The updated date identifies the current version. Material changes should be posted before or when they take effect.

Questions and requests for California Calculator may be sent through the Contact Us page or to contact@californiacalculator.net. Use of the service is also governed by the Terms of Use.
