How should you use these USCIS Citizenship Early Filing Calculator examples?
These examples turn the USCIS Citizenship Early Filing Calculator inputs into complete scenarios with stated values, calculation steps, and interpreted results. Use them to check how the calculator behaves, compare your own situation with realistic cases, and identify which inputs have the greatest effect before relying on an estimate.
Example 1: Standard Five-Year Filing Date
A Resident Since date of January 1, 2021 produces a five-year anniversary of January 1, 2026. Counting back exactly 90 days gives an estimated earliest filing date of October 3, 2025. The applicant must still satisfy the other requirements when filing.
Example 2: Three-Year Spouse Filing Date
A Resident Since date of August 15, 2023 produces a three-year anniversary of August 15, 2026 and an estimated early date of May 17, 2026. The marriage, spouse citizenship, marital union, and continuing-marriage confirmations remain separate checks.
Example 3: Counting Days Outside
A departure on January 1 and return on January 11 contains nine full days outside. Both travel endpoints count as days present in the United States, so the calculator counts January 2 through January 10.
Example 4: Long-Absence Review
An entered trip with 181 days outside produces a continuous-residence review warning. A trip with 365 days outside produces a major-review warning. The engine does not assume the outcome, decide whether evidence or an exception applies, or generate a replacement filing date.
Example 5: State or USCIS District Residence
If residence in the current jurisdiction began January 10, the calculator displays April 10 as the three-month date. A current date before April 10 produces a jurisdiction review even if the separate 90-day filing window has already opened.
